World of Warcraft: Forever Removes Weekly PvP Leaderboard Grind
Blizzard has changed World of Warcraft: Forever's PvP system so players no longer need to compete on a weekly leaderboard to earn titles like High Warlord and Grand Marshal.

Blizzard has reworked the player versus player progression system in World of Warcraft: Forever, removing the weekly leaderboard grind that defined competitive play in the original 2004 MMO.
In a blog post, Blizzard explained that the old system required players to maintain their rank on an invisible leaderboard every week, often leading to account sharing and marathon sessions. The new approach replaces that with a point-based progression system using Honor as currency and Rank points to unlock 14 tiers of rewards, including PvP gear and prestigious titles such as High Warlord for Horde and Grand Marshal for Alliance.
Honor is earned by killing enemy players, completing battlegrounds, and finishing PvP quests. Blizzard normalized Honor gains across all battlegrounds so none are more efficient than others. Rank points have a weekly cap, preventing players from rushing through the entire track over a single weekend.
Each PvP season resets to introduce a fresh set of rewards, encouraging players to climb again. Weekly tasks provide bonus Honor and Rank points, along with Legacy Points for Forever's account-wide meta progression system.
The change reflects Blizzard's goal of capturing the spirit of classic WoW while making it realistic for players who cannot spend every moment logged in. While hardcore veterans may object to casual players earning high-tier titles, Blizzard stated the updated system still requires effort but avoids the extreme time commitment of the original.
This update follows Blizzard's earlier promise to adjust the visual fidelity of the new Skyborne elves to better match the classic art style of the original game.
