Wild West Pioneers – The Journey West Gets Steam Early Access Release Date

Publisher Toplitz Productions and developer EmpireCraft Studios have announced the official Steam Early Access release date for Wild West Pioneers – The Journey West. The game is scheduled to launch on September 25. Combining simulation, colony management, strategy, and sandbox gameplay, the title places players in charge of a frontier settlement during the historical westward expansion.

Gameplay centers around building up a small settlement into a thriving population center. Players must manage essential resources such as food, wood, and water, while establishing production and logistics networks that include agriculture, livestock, hunting, and gathering. As the town expands, advanced production chains unlock, and players can prepare their towns for the eventual arrival of the railroad. City management also involves choosing civic officials, such as a mayor and a sheriff, and making decisions regarding new settlers that influence public opinion.

Settlers in the game feature individual needs and personal desires known as Whims. After fulfilling basic requirements like food, water, and shelter, citizens seek out additional comforts, ranging from owning a cat or adding a fence to visiting the local saloon or attending church. Satisfying these desires increases overall community happiness. Additionally, players can construct a Scouts' Cabin to send scouts on expeditions beyond the settlement boundaries to discover new regions, resources, quests, and outpost locations.

Ahead of the upcoming Early Access release, EmpireCraft Studios utilized feedback gathered from the game's public demo to implement several improvements. These updates feature better road and building snapping, optional free placement, enhanced camera controls, a new tutorial, increased town activity, and general bug and performance fixes. The development team intends to continue gathering and incorporating player feedback throughout the Early Access period.
