Warframe's Riven trait locking lets players freeze powerful stats while rerolling mods

Warframe has added trait locking to its Riven Mod system, giving players finer control over one of the game's most powerful late-game customization tools.
Riven Mods adjust multiple stats on weapons and have long been sought after for their potential God Rolls and stat combinations. The trait locking feature lets players lock a single stat on a mod so it won't change when they cycle, or reroll, the mod for new traits. This allows players to preserve one powerful stat from an otherwise mediocre roll before attempting to improve the rest.
To use trait locking, players go to the Mod Segment in their Base of Operations, select a Riven Mod, and choose the Cycle Riven option. A new Lock Trait button appears in the bottom-left corner. Players select which trait to lock from the greyed-out list of available traits, then cycle the mod as normal. The locked trait persists through the reroll. After confirming the new traits, players must manually relock a trait if they wish to cycle the same mod again.
One key limitation: locking a trait prevents the mod from changing its total number of positive and negative traits. A mod with three positive traits and one negative trait will always cycle into another version with the same trait distribution if one trait is locked. To change the number of traits, players must unlock all traits and cycle again.
The feature represents the Riven Mod system's first significant change in several years, making high-end weapon customization more accessible to players willing to invest time in farming rerolls.
