WARDOGS Crosses 1 Million Sales and Nearly Peaks at 338,000 Steam Players

Bulkhead developer tactical multiplayer shooter WARDOGS has launched into early access on PC and crossed one million copies sold within hours. According to SteamDB data, the game nearly peaked at 338,000 concurrent players, reaching 337,157 players. It currently stands as the third most-played game on Steam, trailing only Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2.

Studio CEO Joe Brammer addressed the milestone in a statement to IGN, noting that crossing one million sales at launch is mental. Brammer explained that the team spent months showing players what the game is and even gave reasons not to buy it to avoid blind hype. He added that the team has things to fix and improve during the early access period, which is planned to run for one to two years before a full release.

The massive player influx has taken a toll on the game's infrastructure. User reviews on Steam are currently mixed, primarily because server hammering has resulted in long queue times.

WARDOGS is a 100-player first-person tactical multiplayer shooter where three teams compete to build forward operating bases and capture objectives. Players requisition materials to construct turrets and S.A.M. launchers, utilize dedicated transport roles for helicopters and drills, and earn funds for kills, assists, and fortifications to purchase better weapons and armor. In addition to the current PC early access release, console versions for Xbox Series X/S and PS5 are scheduled to arrive in 2028.
