Valheim's modding community has already begun expanding the survival game with ambitious fan creations, just weeks after the 1.0 release. The Seasons mod by Shudnal now tops the list of quality-of-life improvements by addressing what vanilla Valheim lacks: a full seasonal cycle.

The mod introduces spring, summer, fall, and winter to all of Valheim's biomes. The Meadows transform dramatically across the year. Spring starts lush and green before summer heat yellows patches of grass. Fall brings orange hues and darker evenings, then winter arrives with snow-covered treetops and branches. Players can now build in snowy meadows without waiting for the mid or endgame to access the Mountains, which feature rocky terrain that complicates construction.

Seasons impacts gameplay beyond aesthetics. The mod adds biome events balanced to each season's weather, alters lighting dynamically (summer nights brighten while winter nights darken), and adjusts player stats with fire resistance bonuses in winter and stamina boosts in summer. Traders stock different wares to reflect seasonal resource scarcity.

All seasonal settings are customizable through add-ons like the BepInEx Configuration Manager. Players can adjust season length, weather types, and other variables to suit their preferences. The mod demonstrates how the Valheim community continues to fill gaps in the base game's design, turning static environments into living ecosystems that shift with the passage of time.
