Valheim 1.0 Introduces Inventory Upgrades Through the Merchant Haldor

Valheim players can finally increase their inventory space starting with version 1.0. Inventory management has historically been a significant challenge in the survival crafting game, which features only eight hotbar slots and 24 standard inventory slots. Because worn armor also occupies slots, player inventories fill up quickly while gathering resources and loot.

To solve this issue, players can visit Haldor, the NPC merchant located in the Black Forest biome. Haldor sells two distinct inventory upgrades in exchange for coins. The Wider pockets upgrade costs 1,000 coins and grants eight extra slots, while the Deeper pockets upgrade costs 2,000 coins and adds another eight slots, providing a total of 16 extra slots.

Locating Haldor requires traveling at least 1,500 meters away from the center of the map within a Black Forest biome. Players can track their coordinates and distance using the pos console command or check their world seed using third-party tools like the Valheim World Generator. A white bag icon appears on the minimap when players get within a couple hundred meters of the camp.

Coins for these purchases can be acquired by opening chests, clearing dungeons, and defeating monsters such as trolls and fulings. Additionally, players can trade valuable items like rubies, amber, and silver necklaces to Haldor in exchange for more currency.
