Unseen Reality's Kickstarter campaign for the URXR One concluded over the weekend after raising $1,294,709. The ultralight headset weighs just 93 grams and functions as a virtual monitor for existing devices including laptops, phones, and handhelds like Steam Deck, ROG Ally, and Legion Go.

The device achieves its minimal weight by offloading computation to external hardware and omitting an onboard battery. It uses the GravityXR G-X100 coprocessor chipset, announced in December, which handles positional head tracking, optical hand tracking, and camera passthrough while drawing very little power.

URXR One features dual 2448x2064 micro-OLED displays magnified by pancake lenses to deliver an 80-degree horizontal by 56-degree vertical field of view (approximately 90 degrees diagonal) at up to 90Hz refresh rate. Users connect the headset via USB-C DisplayPort to display content at 2560x1440 resolution.

The display system differs from competitors like Xreal and Viture, which use transparent prism optics. URXR One's passthrough cameras and VR-style lens arrangement deliver a wider field of view than existing alternatives. Xreal's upcoming Aura device reaches only 70 degrees diagonal, while other Xreal and Viture models offer less than 70 degrees diagonal.

On Windows and Mac, URXR's software enables multiple virtual monitors alongside hand tracking controls for spatial positioning. A $69 Power Hub accessory, shipping in December, is required to display a connected smartphone.

Unseen Reality plans to begin shipping to backers in October, with general availability in November at $999. PC VR support via SteamVR will arrive after launch. The announcement arrives as Meta's unreleased Phoenix headset, reportedly featuring a similar ultralight form factor, draws industry attention.
