Unity Launches Official Claude Code Plugin Featuring 29 Built-In Engine Skills
Unity has released an official plugin for Claude Code, equipping Anthropic's AI coding agent with 29 built-in engine skills and live Editor control.

Unity has announced the launch of an official plugin for Claude Code, designed to bring first-party Unity tools and workflows directly into Anthropic’s AI coding agent. According to the company, the new plugin integrates engineering skills, the Unity CLI, and Unity's Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for live Editor control. This allows Claude Code to interact directly with Unity projects using official workflows.
Available through Claude Code on desktop or terminal, the plugin launches with 29 built-in skills. These cover various engine areas, including the Universal Render Pipeline (URP), UI Toolkit, Multiplayer, LevelPlay, and in-app purchases. Unity stated that the goal of the release is to reduce the guesswork general-purpose coding agents frequently face when handling Unity projects, while also teaching the agent about project structure, asset storage, and engine configuration.
Unity explained that it developed a first-party solution to ensure developers benefit from skills written by the internal teams owning the features. These tools have undergone security reviews and are designed to stay synchronized with engine documentation and updates. Claude Code is currently the first coding agent to support this official plugin, though Unity has indicated plans to expand availability to other coding agents later in the year.
