Ubisoft Announces Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics at Gamescom Opening Night Live
Ubisoft has announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics, a new single-player, turn-based tactical spin-off developed by Ubisoft Paris.
During Gamescom’s Opening Night Live event, Ubisoft officially announced Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics, marking a major new turn-based tactical single-player entry for the franchise. Developed by Ubisoft Paris—co-developer of Mario + Rabbids—the game is set to launch in 2027. According to developers, the project unfolds alongside the ongoing Rainbow Six Siege timeline, presenting a new global threat that pushes Team Rainbow to operate on a broader strategic scale.
For the first time in the franchise, players step into the role of Six, commander of the Rainbow unit. The campaign is led by Vegas protagonist Paul Bishop and features a roster of 15 recruitable operators drawn from Rainbow Six Siege. Gameplay is structured around a dual loop that moves players between global command at their headquarters and tactical execution in the field. From HQ, players assess intelligence, assign operators, upgrade their base of operations, and train the team before sending squads of up to four operators into missions.
The turn-based combat incorporates elements such as specialized gadgets, distinct skill trees, reconnaissance tools, and destructible environments. Uniquely, while outdoor areas feature aerial intelligence support, indoor locations are hidden, requiring players to utilize small recon drones to scope out interiors. The game also introduces a Breach feature, allowing players to coordinate synchronized assaults that break the turn-based rhythm to storm areas by surprise. Diverse mission types include hostage rescue, bomb disposal, and target elimination across over 45 global locations.
Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Tactics will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC through Ubisoft Connect, Steam, and the Epic Games Store, alongside streaming and subscription platforms including Ubisoft+, GeForce Now, and Blacknut. A closed network test is currently in the works, and players can already wishlist the game across digital storefronts ahead of its planned 2027 release window.
