Treyarch Teases Unprecedented New Project After Black Ops 7
Treyarch design director Kevin Drew says the studio is moving beyond the Black Ops series to create something players have never experienced before.

Veteran Call of Duty developer Treyarch is wrapping up work on Black Ops 7 and shifting focus to its next project, though details remain under wraps.
In a recent Dev Talk video, Treyarch design director Kevin Drew said the studio has "learned a lot" from developing 2024's Black Ops 6 and 2025's Black Ops 7. "But we're ready to make something new and something that nobody's ever experienced before," he stated.
Drew's comments come as Treyarch acknowledges concerns about franchise fatigue following back-to-back Black Ops releases in 2024 and 2025. The studio created the Black Ops series, which debuted in 2010 and remains one of the most popular brands within the Call of Duty franchise.
The tease arrives amid broader changes for Call of Duty. Microsoft announced that future Call of Duty titles, starting with this year's Modern Warfare 4, will no longer launch on Xbox Game Pass. Infinity Ward leads Modern Warfare 4 development, though other Activision studios including Treyarch are expected to contribute.
Rumors also suggest Microsoft may restructure its first-party lineup, potentially having a Call of Duty studio work on a Halo game or placing Halo under Activision management to revitalize the FPS franchise.
