Transit Premieres at 28 Games Later Showcase with Hand-Animated Sock Puppet Companion
Nordic studio Fable Systems showcased Transit, a supernatural metro loop game featuring a talkative sock puppet guide navigating stations caught between life and death. The indie title won Best Upcoming Indie Game at Copenhagen Gaming Week 2025.
Transit, an upcoming indie game from Nordic studio Fable Systems, debuted at the 28 Games Later Showcase with a new trailer highlighting its unconventional narrative structure and atmospheric design.
The game follows Jo through a metro system suspended between life and death. Stations shift between past and present states, allowing players to revisit locations and characters to uncover altered conversations, hidden paths, and new outcomes. A hand-animated sock puppet named Mr. Sock serves as Jo's guide, commentator, and ally throughout the journey, providing both dark comedy and emotional tension.
Transit's core gameplay centers on helping souls confront their pasts to uncover clues and memories that open access to deeper parts of the system. The narrative weaves in a corporate mystery involving a company called Quantum and its experiments with memory, time, and the boundary between life and death. The game's visual identity draws from Nordic folklore, analogue nostalgia, and dream logic, creating what Fable Systems describes as a Nordic-noir atmosphere set in surreal underground spaces.
Fable Systems describes itself as a Nordic game studio focused on creating stories powered by emerging technologies, working at the intersection of popular culture, music, art, and fashion. Transit has garnered recognition during its development, earning Best Upcoming Indie Game at Copenhagen Gaming Week 2025. The project was also selected for the European Games Showcase at GDC and won the Big Indie Pitch at Pocket Gamer Malmö 2026. Development has received support through multiple funding rounds from the Danish Film Institute and Nimbi.
Players can wishlist Transit on Steam through the 28 Games Later showcase page. More information about the game is available on Fable Systems' website and social channels, including X, YouTube, Instagram, and Discord.
