Publisher GungHo has announced that a free playable demo for Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter is now rolling out across PlayStation 5, Steam, and Nintendo Switch. While availability varies slightly by platform during the rollout, progress accumulated in the demo will carry over directly to the full game at launch. For players utilizing Nintendo hardware, demos for the platform are released for the original Switch system, though they remain fully playable on the Nintendo Switch 2 via backward compatibility.

Alongside the demo release, GungHo detailed purchase options and pricing structures ahead of the game's worldwide launch on September 17, 2026, for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Standard Edition preorders are currently open at North American retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, and Walmart. The standard physical and digital versions are priced at $59.99 USD for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, while the standalone Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is priced at $64.99 USD. Additionally, players who purchase the standard Nintendo Switch version will have the option to upgrade to the Switch 2 edition later by purchasing a $4.99 Upgrade Pack.

For dedicated fans looking for extra content, GungHo confirmed a separate Season Pass will be available for purchase on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Steam for $24.99, providing access to cosmetic downloadable content similar to the first game in the series.
