Gaming Legends Tony Warriner And Stoo Cambridge Discuss UrbX Warriors On Sega Mega Drive

Industry veterans Tony Warriner, known for Beneath A Steel Sky and Broken Sword, and Stoo Cambridge, known for Sensible Soccer and Cannon Fodder, have launched a crowdfunding campaign to bring their game UrbX Warriors to the Sega Mega Drive and Amiga AGA. The project follows a successful Kickstarter campaign for the ZX Spectrum Next version. Despite an early technical hiccup that made the project seem cancelled, the new campaign has raised over £44,000 against its initial goal of £18,888 as it enters its final week.

Both developers describe UrbX Warriors as their most challenging project to date. The title is an arcade adventure inspired by Zombies Ate My Neighbours, featuring pick-up-and-play gameplay, hidden secrets, pixel graphics, and action. Players who already own the ZX Spectrum Next edition will find that the Sega Mega Drive release is not a straight port. The visuals have been refined, and a new two-player cooperative mode has been included.

Music for the 16-bit edition is composed by Allister Brimble, who worked alongside Richard Faulkner from the Next version to create new tracks. Speaking about the hardware choice, the creators stated in an exclusive statement that the Sega Mega Drive is almost the perfect hardware design for the game. They also highlighted the relative ease of producing new cartridges as physical media.
