Tokyo Walled City, an indie stealth-action immersive sim from developer Grim Ronin, emerged from TGS 2026 as a potential successor to the spirit of genre classics. The game casts players as a knife-wielding, parkour-capable mercenary trapped in a walled district of a cyberized Tokyo.

The announcement trailer showcases familiar immersive sim mechanics: quiet assassinations, disabling lights and cameras, hacking, oversized air vents, and computer password theft. The movement system draws direct inspiration from Dishonored 2, featuring roof leaps and vertical backstabs. Survival horror and RPG elements are also promised, though less prominently demonstrated in early footage.

Tokyo Walled City arrives amid a notable gap in high-profile immersive sims. Dishonored has concluded its run, BioShock remains absent, and Deus Ex sits in extended limbo. The indie development space has seen increased experimentation with the genre, from experimental titles like Cruelty Squad to more traditionally grounded entries.

The game is confirmed for early access on Steam, though Grim Ronin has not announced a specific release date.
