The Witcher 3 Remastered Makes Top HD Mod Obsolete Due to Modder Cooperation with CD Projekt Red
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered integrates the popular HD Reworked mod into the official release as CD Projekt Red collaborates with modder HalkHogan for the upcoming September 29 launch.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered is bringing major changes to the classic role-playing game, including the official integration of the community's most popular graphics overhaul. The Witcher 3 HD Reworked project, a monumental upscaling and remodeling effort that amassed millions of downloads across its OldGen and newer versions, will no longer be necessary once the official remaster launches. This is because creator HalkHogan has been cooperating directly with developer CD Projekt Red to bring his high-quality work straight into the base game.
Executive producer Jakub Kutrzuba noted that the development team is integrating the highly popular Nexus mod, which features upgraded textures and meshes designed to deliver great visual improvements across the entire experience. According to HalkHogan, the official release incorporates reworked versions of nearly all in-game characters, monsters, animals, vegetation, armors and equipment for Geralt and Roach, alongside a large portion of the environment.
The major overhaul is scheduled to launch on September 29 as a free update for all existing owners of the game on PC and consoles. Alongside the remaster, CD Projekt Red also announced the upcoming Songs of the Past expansion, which is designed to bridge the narrative gap between The Witcher 3 and the anticipated Witcher 4.
In addition to the PC and console release details, preliminary PC specifications have been revealed via Battle.Net for Windows systems running the remaster. Minimum system requirements call for a 64-bit Windows 11 operating system, an Intel Core i5-8400 or AMD Ryzen 5 2600 processor, and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 6GB, AMD Radeon RX 5500 XT 8GB, or Intel Arc A580 graphics card. Meanwhile, recommended specifications suggest an Intel Core i7-8700K or AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor paired with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER, AMD Radeon RX 6600 XT, or Intel Arc B580. Furthermore, early Nintendo Switch 2 gameplay footage has also been revealed, following the initial sharing of screenshots from the portable platform's port.
