The Well Is Not Empty, created by tweakEra, tasks players with investigating why a village's water supply has run dry. What they discover is a sprawling underground complex filled with dangers that emerge when the lights go out.

The game's core mechanic revolves around light-sensitive monsters that pose no threat as long as illumination remains on. However, many ceiling bulbs in open areas are set to timers, forcing players to manage their exploration carefully and return to construction lamps before darkness falls.

The well itself contains an unsettling array of environments: canteens, offices, expiring machines, corpses with bloody letters, and what appears to be a partially vacated prison complex. The visuals employ a dingy, stylized PSX-inspired 3D aesthetic.

A key tool for exploration is a large spoon that serves dual purposes. Players can use it to dig through loose earth to access hidden rooms, and strike hard objects with it to create sparks that illuminate the path ahead. The spoon becomes central to the game's character and exploration identity, transforming the digging mechanic into something more evocative than a simple shovel.

The Well Is Not Empty is available now with a demo on Steam.
