The Precinct PS5 Sale Drops GTA-Like Cop Game Under $20

The Precinct is on sale on the PlayStation Store with a 40% discount, bringing the PS5 version down to $17.99 from its regular $29.99 price. The deal runs until October 8, 2026.

Developed by Fallen Tree Games and published by Kwalee, The Precinct launched May 13, 2025. The game inverts the Grand Theft Auto formula by putting you on the side of law enforcement. You play as Officer Nick Cordell Jr., a rookie beat cop in Averno City, a fictional East Coast location set in 1983 and inspired by New York City during its high-crime years. The story follows Cordell investigating local gangs and a larger conspiracy while uncovering what happened to his father, who died while serving the same police force.

Gameplay centers on patrol work in an open sandbox world where crimes happen dynamically and you decide how to respond. Core activities include answering radio callouts across the city, engaging in car chases and helicopter pursuits, choosing tactical approaches for shootouts and arrests, calling in backup when situations escalate, and handling minor offenses through tickets and arrests. The game features a neo-noir aesthetic, day and night cycles, and dynamic weather.

Critical reception has been mixed. OpenCritic reports 49% of critics recommending it. IGN praised the variety and realism but noted repetitive elements, while Push Square called it an "impressive sandbox romp" and PCGamesN described it as "deeply repetitive." Players have rated it more favorably on the PlayStation Store, giving it 4.34 out of 5 stars from 5,599 ratings.

The Precinct is available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. This particular sale applies only to the PS5 version on PlayStation Store. The game supports 11 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Russian, Portuguese (Brazil), and Simplified and Traditional Chinese.
