The Division 2 is Getting Crossplay in November, Echoes of Central Park Expansion Announced

Ubisoft has announced major updates for The Division 2, highlighted by the upcoming introduction of crossplay and a brand-new expansion. While a precise release date has not yet been specified, cross-platform multiplayer is slated to launch for the cover-based looter shooter in November. According to the company, implementing this feature required significant behind-the-scenes work, including a partial rebuild of the game's online infrastructure to unite players across different platforms.

When the crossplay update arrives, all players will be automatically migrated to the new crossplay environment with the feature enabled by default. However, players will retain the option to disable it from the character selection screen. Clans will also be migrated to support cross-platform members, and the maximum clan capacity will increase from 50 to 100 members. Furthermore, leaderboards will be completely reset during the migration to reflect players' crossplay status.

Alongside the multiplayer update, Ubisoft announced the next major expansion for the game, titled Echoes of Central Park. The expansion returns players to New York City, exploring a narrative where Central Park—used as a mass burial ground immediately following the outbreak—holds unknown dangers and is approached by few. The story begins with a distress call originating from within the park, accompanied by rumors from the Upper West Side regarding the hazards inside. Developers describe the expansion as having a darker atmosphere than typical game content, where fear serves as a major threat alongside enemies.

Additional details and gameplay footage for Echoes of Central Park will be revealed during a special showcase scheduled for September 24th. Previously, the game received the Into the Dark update, which focused on the PvPvE Dark Zones by adding invulnerability windows for entering agents, improved Landmark rewards, and a new Toxic Dark Zone area supporting cooperative play for up to 12 players.
