Tenebris Somnia, a survival horror title from Argentinian developer Saibot Studios, premiered a new trailer during Insider Gaming's 28 Games Later showcase, revealing its unique blend of retro pixel-art gameplay and live-action cinematics.

The game draws inspiration from classic survival horror titles like Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Players will explore unsettling environments, engage in combat with monsters, solve puzzles, and manage resources as they progress through the horror experience. The core gameplay employs an 8-bit and 16-bit aesthetic consistent with the era that influenced its design.

What sets Tenebris Somnia apart is its narrative approach. All cinematics are presented as live-action footage, featuring real actors and practical effects. These sequences provide a visual contrast to the pixel-art gameplay while maintaining the overall horror atmosphere.

Saibot Studios previously developed the Doorways horror series but takes a markedly different approach with Tenebris Somnia, combining two distinct mediums to create what the studio describes as a fusion experience. The juxtaposition of retro gameplay and live-action storytelling brings two entirely different perspectives to the game's narrative.

Tenebris Somnia launches October 16 on PC via Steam.
