Tekken 8 Update 3.02.01 Adds Bob DLC, Lowers Fighter Health, and Implements Balance Changes

Bandai Namco has released Tekken 8 update 3.02.01 for PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S, introducing playable character Bob, health bar reductions, and character balancing adjustments.

Bandai Namco Games has officially released Tekken 8 update 3.02.01 across PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S platforms. The latest update introduces the next downloadable content character, Bob, alongside systemic adjustments including a reduction to overall fighter health pools and targeted balance updates.

As part of the update's system changes, the overall health of fighters has been reduced from 200 down to 190. Additionally, specific character move behaviors have been adjusted to address risk-reward balance issues within the competitive landscape. For instance, Bryan Fury's Cannon Ball attack has been reduced from +5 on block down to +1, mitigating its overwhelming pressure capability while still demanding respect from opponents. Further adjustments include fixes to Kunimitsu's kunai throws in Tekken Ball mode, ensuring thrown kunai only hit the ball rather than excessively restricting opponent actions upon contact.

The Bob DLC character is scheduled to launch via each platform's digital store, offering early access via the Season 3 Pass starting August 19 or August 20 depending on region, followed by general access on August 24 and August 25, 2024. Season 3 follows a tumultuous period for Tekken 8, which faced criticism during Season 2 over overpowered moves and excessive chip damage. With ongoing developer interventions and recent updates, the game has steadily worked toward a healthier competitive state.

Update 3.02.01 also introduces the Aurora Outfit Pack for Season 3 Pass owners, new Tekken Shop content including Tekken Fight Pass Round 11, limited-time Gold and Silver return packs for Round 1 items, a Fun in the Sun costume pack, and a Tekken Special Deal event. Online matchmaking standby behavior has likewise been updated so that unconfirmed match confirmation dialogs automatically pause matchmaking until players exit the practice menu or dialog box, a change directly responding to player feedback from the official Tekken Dev Feedback Portal.
