Take-Two CEO says PC is 'becoming more important' as GTA 6 remains console exclusive

During a shareholders meeting, Take-Two's Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the growing importance of PC gaming to the company, but offered no clarity on when Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive on the platform.

Take-Two Interactive chairman and CEO Strauss Zelnick fielded questions about PC gaming during the company's annual shareholders meeting, reaffirming that personal computers matter to the publisher even as Grand Theft Auto 6 launches as a console exclusive.

When asked about the potential impact of PlayStation 5 Pro shortages on the company's PC release strategy, Zelnick said: "The strategy of the company is over time, generally speaking, to launch for any platforms for which there's a meaningful audience. But that isn't always the case, and certainly if platforms were no longer viable, we would change that strategy. And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time."

The statement offers little insight into GTA 6's PC timeline. The game is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, with no PC release date announced.

Zelnick's comments add to a pattern of seemingly contradictory messaging around PC gaming at Take-Two. In May, he noted that PC can account for up to half the total sales of major game releases, yet cited focus on "serving the core consumer" as the reason GTA 6 is debuting on consoles only. The apparent disconnect has left PC players waiting for clarity on when they'll access the upcoming title.

During the same meeting, Zelnick also addressed GTA Online's future, describing GTA 6 as "a singleplayer experience" and confirming that GTA 5 Online "continues to be a robust business for us" that Take-Two will continue to support.
