Steam revenue hits record $1.7B in September, annual total projected to exceed $20B
According to industry analysts, Steam generated $1.7 billion in September 2026, its strongest month ever. The platform's year-to-date revenue has reached $16.5B, putting it on track to break $20B annually for the first time.

Steam had its strongest September on record, generating $1.7 billion in revenue. The figure represents a 13% increase over the previous September record, according to Alinea Analytics.
Wardogs led new releases with an estimated $86.9M in September sales on Steam. However, earlier launches sustained stronger momentum. Helldivers 2 generated $130M on the platform by September, while Arc Raiders made approximately $125M, both significantly outpacing Wardogs' total.
Other major September launches included Onimusha: Way of the Sword ($30.4M), The Blood of Dawnwalker ($26.9M), Bodycam ($24.2M), and EA Sports FC27 ($20.7M).
Steam's third quarter proved exceptional, generating $5.5B in total revenue, up 12% year-over-year. Through nine months of 2026, the platform has accumulated $16.5B in revenue, a 13% increase compared to the same period in 2025, when Steam made $14.5B.
"Given the insane release slate for the rest of the year, it's safe to say Steam's yearly revenue will blow past $20B for the first time," said Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics. The strong performance reflects continued growth in back-catalogue sales alongside blockbuster new releases throughout 2026.
