Steam Leak Exposes Achievement Lists for Unreleased and Unannounced Games

A major data leak on Steam has exposed achievement lists for many unreleased titles, including highly anticipated games and projects that have not yet been announced to the public. The leak was originally discovered by Exophase, a tracking website that monitors achievements across various storefronts including Steam and the Epic Games Store.

According to the findings, achievement lists for multiple games currently in development became temporarily accessible through the Steam API. Exophase owner Mike Bendel, known online as x3sphere, explained the situation in a ResetEra post. Bendel stated that it seemed like a possible screw-up on Valve's end, noting that a bunch of games with achievements that should be private were accessible and scanned into their site.

Bendel also pointed out that various unnamed games appeared with achievements, which suggests that some of the exposed titles might be unannounced or potentially canceled. While many of the leaked lists utilize placeholder text and appear incomplete, others reportedly contain spoilers for upcoming projects such as Kingdom Hearts 4.

This incident follows previous security issues on the platform. In August, a separate security breach exposed 12 terabytes of information tied to unreleased games and prototypes spanning a decade from 2003 to 2013.
