Steam Earns Valve $15 Billion in Revenue So Far This Year, Analyst Reports

According to Alinea Analytics market analysis lead Rhys Elliott, Steam has generated a top-heavy $15 billion in gross revenue so far this year. In a new Substack post breaking down the platform's earnings—which are up roughly 15% from 2025—Elliott describes Steam as Valve's functional monopoly on the PC market. The first eight months of the year have already surpassed 2023's total, putting the platform on track to finish well above $20 billion for the first time.

While no single title replicated the massive multi-million scale of unreleased giants like GTA 6, Alinea identified several major financial influences on the platform. Forza Horizon 6 is estimated to have made $210.5 million on Steam, closely followed by Crimson Desert at $203.3 million and Resident Evil Requiem at $200.9 million. Among brand-new intellectual properties, Crimson Desert stood out as the most lucrative by far, accounting for about 18% of all new-IP revenue within the platform's top 100 titles. Additionally, Crimson Desert has soared past 150,000 Steam reviews with a Very Positive rating despite receiving some story criticism.

The only other brand-new IP to crack Steam's top six earners was Meccha Chameleon, which brought in approximately $89.8 million. Together, these top earners contributed significantly to 2026's ongoing figures, while analyst Joost van Dreunen notes that the bulk of Steam's revenue continues to stem from mid-market games, aging AAA titles, and consistent mid-tier releases.
