According to Exophase owner x3sphere, who commented on the situation on ResetEra, the breach appears to stem from a mistake on Valve's end. The site's automated API scanned a large collection of games with achievements that should have remained private, bringing unreleased titles and placeholder entries into public view. Some titles, such as Judas, only featured a placeholder sample achievement or two, offering minimal details. However, other entries—such as Kingdom Hearts IV and Persona 6—reportedly contain extensive information, with Kingdom Hearts lists revealing new worlds that could spoil players.

Other titles mentioned in the wide-reaching data leak include Persona 4 Revival, Mega Man: Dual Override, Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3, Gears of War: E-Day, Kena: Scars of Kosmora, Silent Hill: Townfall, Star Wars: Galactic Racer, and Stranger Than Heaven. Additionally, several previously unannounced projects were inadvertently revealed through the backend blunder, including a new Nickelodeon game, a Telltale Games The Walking Dead collection, a new Tetris game, a Rurouni Kenshin game, and a retro-style Steam port reminiscent of the classic Shrek 2.
