Cancelled Star Wars: Magellan Gameplay Footage Surfaces Online

Gameplay footage for Star Wars: Magellan, a cancelled action RPG from the now-defunct Echtra Games, has appeared online years after the project was shelved. The video, reportedly uploaded by a former developer on the project according to MP1st, shows multiple playable characters — including a Jedi and a Mandalorian — battling through waves of enemies in what appears to be a loot-centric design. Enemies drop gear of varying rarities, and each character displays a dedicated skill set alongside a limited weapon selection.

MP1st also claims the game would have featured an "NPC Bond" system allowing players to form deeper relationships with story characters; this detail comes from the outlet's reporting and has not been independently confirmed. Star Wars: Magellan was targeting PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.

Echtra Games was acquired by Zynga in 2021, and development on the then-unnamed action RPG began that same year. Little information surfaced until June 2025, when Zynga announced it would cease operations at the Echtra studio, ending development on future titles and reducing roles. A Zynga spokesperson described the move as a "strategic realignment of the company's resources and priorities" and pledged to support impacted employees. Echtra's prior release was Torchlight 3, which launched to mixed reception but was noted for its ambition.
