An unofficial PC version of Spider-Man: Edge of Time has received a significant update. Version 2.0, released by the project team, introduces several features designed to improve the experience on PC.

Spider-Man: Edge of Time is a linear third-person action game where players control two versions of Spider-Man: Peter Parker and Spider-Man 2099, who inhabit different time periods. The gameplay mechanic links their actions across time, allowing changes made by one hero to affect the other's world.

The update replaces the old installation process, which frequently encountered 404 errors, with a new single-screen installer. Graphics support now ranges from 720p to 4K resolution, with frame rate options including 30, 60, 75, and 120 FPS. Additional graphics settings include VSync, monitor and GPU selection, and anisotropic filtering up to 16x.

Version 2.0 expands mouse support and introduces improved controller compatibility alongside full key rebinding and settings profiles. A new Mod Manager has been included, supporting installation from ZIP, 7Z, RAR, and folder formats. The tool provides load order and conflict detection, with a Mods_active system designed to prevent mods from overwriting original game files. The team is also working on support for PlayStation 3 and Wii texture mods.

The project has been rebranded as Project 2099. The previous GitHub repository became unavailable three times, prompting the name change to clarify the project's unofficial community status. The team continues working on PSO, shader stutter, microstutter, and frame pacing improvements.

The PC version does not include in-game assets and requires users to provide their own ROM or ISO file. Early testing on Steam Deck showed the game running at close to stable 60 FPS without specific Steam Deck optimizations.
