Sony Shuts Down PC Multiplayer Mod for The Last of Us Part 2
Creator Speclizer announced that Sony Interactive Entertainment requested the cancellation of a fan-made multiplayer mod for The Last of Us Part 2 on PC.
Sony has halted a fan-made project that aimed to introduce multiplayer functionality to the PC version of The Last of Us Part 2. The custom modification was scheduled to release this month after being in development since January, but the creator received a formal request from Sony Interactive Entertainment asking for the release to be canceled.
While the original game featured a 4v4 multiplayer mode called Factions, developer Naughty Dog chose to omit multiplayer from the sequel. The independent project sought to recreate that missing experience for players on PC. Following contact from Sony, the team confirmed they are canceling the release.
Work-in-progress footage and videos showcasing the mod remain accessible on the creator's YouTube channel, allowing players to view what the project intended to achieve before its cancellation.
