Snap Announces Specs AR Glasses Software, Anticipatory AI, and Pricing Details
Snap revealed software capabilities, developer partnerships, and pricing details for its upcoming consumer AR glasses, Specs, during a recent livestream.

Snap has announced new experiences, services, and partnerships for Specs, the company upcoming pair of consumer AR glasses. While the livestream was not a formal hardware launch event, Snap provided insight into the software running on the device. Specs are slated to arrive in the United States, United Kingdom, and France later in the fall. Pricing starts at $2,195, and a connected case bundle will cost $2,395 in the US with financing and data plans available through Verizon. Free demos are scheduled to begin on October 1st at Snap First Look in Los Angeles.
Alongside the hardware details, Snap unveiled Specs Intelligence, described as an anticipatory AI service. The service is designed to operate across Specs, iPhone, and Mac by drawing from connected apps and tools to build context around user goals, routines, and relationships. It surfaces relevant information in the user field of view without explicit prompts. Snap stated that users can choose what information the service uses, and personal content will not be used to train AI models or serve personalized ads. A preview became available through the Specs iOS app for users aged 18 and older.
Snap also revealed several augmented reality experiences spanning entertainment, education, and fitness. A built-in browser allows users to stream content from platforms like YouTube and HBO Max on a virtual display comparable to a 115-inch cinema screen. Additional partnerships include Spotify integration, a Harry Potter experience tied to HBO Max, and interactive basketball training created in partnership with the NBA and WNBA. Other announced applications include soccer and golf training, an Apollo 11 experience, and Starmap for viewing constellations.
For multiplayer content, Connected Lenses allow two Specs wearers to share digital experiences in the same physical space. Initial multiplayer activities include Dominoes featuring Jimmy Butler, Chess, and Table Tennis. Everyday utilities feature real-time translation for 60 languages, augmented navigation, and TripAdvisor integration. A Shopify-powered experience lets users view products in 3D at full scale. Additionally, the glasses can function as a wireless display for PC or Mac with Bluetooth peripheral support.
Snap emphasized privacy measures for the device, noting that the glasses do not use facial recognition or continuously record audio, video, or images. An external LED indicator activates when the glasses are recording. Cellular connectivity is supported through a new Specs Charging Case with cellular capabilities, backed by carrier partnerships with Verizon in the US, Orange in France, and EE in the UK.
