Sega is continuing its efforts to revive the Crazy Taxi franchise by moving it beyond the gaming space and into a feature film adaptation. According to a report by Variety, the project is taking the shape of a comedy movie hosted at Netflix.

The film's script is being written by Dan Gregor and Doug Mand, who also worked on the 2025 reboot of Naked Gun. Production duties are being handled by Original Film alongside Toru Nakahara. Both production entities previously worked on the three Sonic the Hedgehog movies, as well as the Knuckles and Sonic Prime television shows.

Neal H. Moritz and Toby Ascher of Original Film issued a joint statement about the partnership. They noted that the film is intended for anyone who spent hours playing the arcade driving game on Sega platforms with the music cranked up.

Sega is also working on a new game in the series titled Crazy Taxi: World Tour. Alongside the upcoming Crazy Taxi movie, Netflix and Sega have several other adaptations in the works. These include another animated Sonic television series and a movie adaptation of an unreleased game titled Stranger Than Heaven.
