Saudi Arabia Considers Merging Savvy and EA Into Gaming Supergroup
Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund is reportedly weighing a merger between Electronic Arts and Savvy Games Group to form a massive gaming conglomerate.

Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund is considering combining Electronic Arts and Savvy Games Group to form a giant gaming supergroup, according to a Bloomberg report. No final decisions will be made until Savvy completes its six billion dollar acquisition of Moonton, the developer behind Mobile Legends Bang Bang. The potential conglomerate would bring together several major industry players under one umbrella.
The sovereign wealth fund controls Savvy Games Group, which previously acquired Scopely for 4.9 billion dollars in 2023. Savvy later helped Scopely acquire Niantic's games portfolio for 3.5 billion dollars in 2025, adding titles like Pokemon Go, Monster Hunter Now, and Pikmin Bloom to Saudi ownership. A consortium led by the Public Investment Fund also acquired Electronic Arts for 55 billion dollars, taking the publisher of EA FC, Madden, The Sims, and Apex Legends private.
Bloomberg notes that while Electronic Arts maintains a strong presence on PC and consoles, its perceived weakness in the mobile market could be addressed by working more closely with Scopely and Niantic. A senior Electronic Arts staffer previously indicated that the go-private acquisition was partly motivated by the lucrative mobile games sector, which generates over half the value of the overall games market. Additionally, Bloomberg reported that Savvy Games Group chief executive officer Brian Ward recently stepped down from his position.
