Saber Interactive Details AI Usage in Rideshare Stimulator Following Writer Dispute
Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch has explained how generative AI is used in the upcoming game Rideshare Stimulator following a public dispute with a former writer who claimed she was replaced by ChatGPT.

Saber Interactive CEO Matt Karch has clarified how generative AI is utilized in the upcoming driving game Rideshare Stimulator. The explanation followed an acrimonious public discussion regarding the development of the game. Controversy began when former lead writer Stella Sacco stated on social media that she had been replaced on the project by ChatGPT in late 2023, claiming that all passenger voices were also artificial intelligence.
Saber initially issued a statement denying that any human writers had been replaced by artificial intelligence. The company stated that its writing staff had tripled since 2023 and that the main story was written entirely by real people. According to Saber, the game features an experimental, free-ride mode that incorporates artificial intelligence out of necessity due to an infinite number of passengers. The company added that an AI disclosure on the game Steam page is forthcoming, aligning with marketplace requirements for games using artificial intelligence to generate in-game content.
Karch later provided further details regarding the writing process for the experimental mode. He explained that dialogues are produced offline through prompts created by human writers and then edited for the endless mode. These prompts are designed to cover a wide range of topics, including current events. The generated dialogues are uploaded and played once for any given gamer, and players are not permitted to prompt dialogues directly during gameplay.
The discussion surrounding the project drew additional public attention following remarks published across various media reports regarding staffing and the development process. Sacco subsequently responded on social media to statements made by company leadership, while user discussions on the game Steam forums featured critical reactions to the controversy.
