Rumor: Forza Horizon 6 Won't Release for PlayStation 5 Until 2027

Recent reports indicate that Playground Games' open-world racing hit, Forza Horizon 6, may not see a PlayStation 5 launch in 2026 as initially anticipated. While the title is currently available on PC and Xbox Series S/X, speculation regarding its eventual arrival on Sony's console has shifted following recent social media discussions.

Xbox personality Colt Eastwood recently stated on X that Playground Games is reportedly delaying the port to 2027. Although Eastwood's past reliability with leaks has been questioned, the claim received support from The Verge editor Tom Warren, who noted that he is not expecting the game on PS5 in 2026. Warren subsequently clarified that the port is still planned for release, suggesting Microsoft may treat the title as a timed exclusive. Neither Microsoft nor Playground Games has officially confirmed a revised launch window for the PlayStation 5 version.

Since its launch in May, Forza Horizon 6 has achieved significant milestones on PC and Xbox platforms. The racing title has seen players drive over 20 billion miles across its vibrant digital recreation of Japan, with more than 141 million total hours logged. During its launch weekend, the game reached over 300,000 concurrent players on Steam alone—marking a massive increase compared to its predecessor. Playground Games has outlined extensive post-launch support for the game, including monthly updates, fixes, upcoming expansions, and themed events such as the four-week-long Welcome to Japan series.
