ROLLA Brings Fleshy, B-Movie-Esque Destruction Inspired By Katamari Damacy This Month

A new arcade-style game called ROLLA is slated to release on Steam later this month, bringing an explicitly violent and monstrous twist to mechanics reminiscent of Katamari Damacy. In ROLLA, players control a mobile mass of flesh tasked with wreaking havoc upon the world by rolling around and destroying everything in their path. As players demolish various cities across different levels, the flesh mass gradually increases in size.

While sharing pseudo-arcade origins with Katamari Damacy, ROLLA features distinct differences, including level-specific challenges such as destroying a set number of radio towers, killing humans, or racking up millions in property damage. The violence in ROLLA is also reciprocal; police and military forces actively intervene with gunfire and rockets to reduce the player's mass back down into nothingness, forcing players to rely on their rolling skills to survive.

Players can collect temporary bonuses along the way, such as shields that repel or absorb bullets, or abilities that shoot out lightning. A playable demo is currently available on Steam alongside a wishlist option, ahead of the game's official release scheduled for September 30th.
