Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader's three-year expansion cycle is drawing to a close with Processional of the Damned, now scheduled for December 2026 after being pushed back from an originally planned September release.

Owlcat Games announced the delay on Steam, stating: "Despite our best efforts to deliver the expansion by September as originally intended, it has become clear to us that it won't be ready in time. That's why, to ensure we deliver the experience players deserve, we have decided to delay the launch." The studio confirmed the December release window is not expected to move further.

The centerpiece of Processional of the Damned is Stella, a new companion character described as an "unsanctioned psyker" and "a miracle sent by the Emperor himself." Raised by the Ecclesiarchy as a living weapon, Stella's unstable psychic powers manifest visibly, with her eyes bleeding and cracks forming in her porcelain skin when she becomes a conduit of the Emperor's will. In combat, she emanates a devastating wave of psychic flares that deal area-of-effect damage to surrounding enemies. Although she can learn to control her powers to some degree, the degradation of the veil and the power of the warp mean she will never truly be free from peril and madness.

Beyond the new companion, the DLC adds a Zealot archetype focused on bludgeoning weapons, a new Madness feature affecting all companions, and new enemies drawn from the Arch Enemy and Aeladari factions. Players will face choices about whether to grow Stella into a powerful weapon, attempt to save her, or embrace her madness and damnation.

Owlcat is offering refunds to Season Pass 2 owners via Steam customer support due to the delay. The studio noted that refunds will remove Processional of the Damned and the Infinite Museion from accounts and break saved games using Infinite Museion content. The Appearance Pack included in Season Pass 2 will be made free and integrated into the base game for all players, preserving existing saves. This change will roll out slightly later on other platforms.

Processional of the Damned will follow the structure of previous DLC expansions by introducing a new storyline and companion integrated into the existing campaign rather than appearing after its conclusion.
