Rock Paper Shotgun Staff Pick Their Weekend Gaming
The gaming press shares what they're playing this weekend, from strategy games like Crusader Kings 3 to action titles like Control: Resonant and Wardogs.

Rock Paper Shotgun's team revealed their weekend gaming plans, offering a snapshot of what's capturing attention across PC and beyond.
Several staff members are diving into recent releases. Ollie has been trying Wardogs and plans to play more, describing it as having "pretty clever design decisions" and noting it's "well ahead of the curve compared to Battlefield." Edwin is jumping into Control: Resonant, while James is prioritizing Roman Sands before the team's good-natured ribbing escalates.
Strategy and simulation gaming features prominently. Mark is returning to Crusader Kings 3 and exploring Automobilista 2 after rediscovering his interest in sim racing. Jeremy recently completed The Blood of Dawnwalker, finishing the campaign via the Folk Hero route and soloing the Brencis encounter. He's considering revisiting Ogre Battle: The March of the Black Queen, the SNES title he started earlier in the year but set aside due to the challenge of finding secret locations without guidance.
Not everyone has gaming in their weekend plans. Callum is traveling to Leeds with minimal gaming time, though he'll be watching the Resident Evil movie and hoping Nemesis appears. Julian is spending time with family and will likely only play Racing Demon, a competitive solitaire card game that's been a family tradition for years.
Wardogs developer Bulkhead has been actively monitoring the game's ecosystem. The studio checks prospective hires' social media for "anti-crunch messaging," according to the CEO. On the gameplay side, the developers are "coming down hard" on XP farms and cash exploits while still encouraging grinding as a legitimate progression path. The team tracks every server players enter to monitor for exploitative behavior.
Regarding The Blood of Dawnwalker's future, the director has indicated the sequel might drop the timer mechanics that defined the original, though the team hasn't committed to removing them entirely.
