Roblox Plans to Let Creators Package Games as Standalone Apps
Roblox has announced a new initiative called Roblox Everywhere, which will allow developers to publish their experiences as independent apps on mobile, PC, and consoles.

Roblox has unveiled plans to let creators package their experiences as standalone applications outside the main Roblox client. Announced during the platform developer conference under the banner of Roblox Everywhere, the initiative will allow developers to make their games available independently across mobile, PC, and consoles while Roblox manages the underlying technology and backend services.
Specific details regarding distribution and a firm timeline for the first standalone releases have not yet been provided. A company representative indicated that a select set of game developers and storefronts will participate in initial tests, though exact storefronts such as Steam, Epic Games Store, or GOG have not been confirmed. In addition to standalone releases, Roblox announced upcoming web-based play through internet browsers beginning with Chrome, which will allow users to play games without installing an application by the end of the year.
Offline play is also heading to the platform. Creators will be given the option to build a solo mode alongside live multiplayer modes within the same game. Offline functionality is slated for a mid-2027 release following an early access period. Engine updates are expanding support for 2D and puzzle games by introducing dedicated features like an orthographic camera, animated image containers, direct sprite-sheet import, and new user interface tools such as blur, text shadows, and enhanced gradients.
Other platform updates include a new Friends chat tab that follows players across different games, voice typing, and pre-set Quick Words options for developers. Furthermore, turn-based asynchronous multiplayer titles will receive a new notification system, entering Studio Beta testing in October ahead of a full release before the end of the year. Financial updates include the introduction of Roblox Wallet, a financial account system created with a third-party partner that will pay creator earnings out daily in real currency, accompanied by a physical Roblox Card.
