Rhapsody II Coming to Console Archives, But Offers No English Localisation

Publisher Hamster has announced that Nippon Ichi Software's 1999 PlayStation RPG Rhapsody II: Ballad of the Little Princess is coming to the Console Archives series. The game is scheduled to launch on August 20, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.

Set 12 years after the events of Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure, this musical turn-based role-playing game follows Kururu, the daughter of Cornet and Prince Ferdinand, as she travels across the Marl Kingdom to find her ideal prince. The sequel introduces a revamped battle system designed to add deeper tactical depth to the experience, alongside expressive character work.

This Console Archives digital rerelease will retail for $14.99 and includes modern conveniences such as customizable button layouts, screen filters, and save states. However, it does not feature a full English translation. Because the original 1999 game was only released in Japan, Hamster's version retains the original Japanese text, with only the game's user interface and digital manual translated into English.

For players who want to experience the RPG fully translated into English, alternative options exist. The Steam version of the game, as well as NIS America's Rhapsody: Marl Kingdom Chronicles collection for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch, both feature Rhapsody II with a complete, modern English localisation.
