Zelda Voice Actress Comments on Potential Movie Role and Upcoming Nintendo Releases

Patricia Summersett, known for providing the voice of Princess Zelda in recent titles including The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, and the Hyrule Warriors games, has commented on the possibility of a role in the upcoming live-action The Legend of Zelda film. When asked by Variety about a potential appearance, Summersett stated that she could not answer one way or another and noted that she is bound by a non-disclosure agreement. She also expressed support for voice actors making cameo appearances in adaptations, pointing to examples like Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson in television adaptations.

Speaking about Bo Bragason taking on the role of Princess Zelda in live-action, Summersett mentioned that she leaves room open for different interpretations of the character, likening the cyclical storytelling to franchises like James Bond or Harry Potter. The live-action film is scheduled to premiere in cinemas on April 30, 2027. Ahead of that release, Nintendo has several franchise entries planned for its newer hardware, including a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time arriving on Nintendo Switch 2 this November, followed by Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity coming to the system as a Definitive Edition in February 2027.

Meanwhile, Nintendo has confirmed plans to restock the Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary edition of the Switch 2 in the United Kingdom and Ireland following initial sell-outs. Resellers had driven up prices on secondary auction sites following high demand. Nintendo added a notification banner to the online listings on the Nintendo Store for the UK and Ireland to clarify that stock replenishment announcements will be made through the Nintendo Store app. While similar restocking confirmation banners have not appeared on the United States storefront ahead of the October 29 launch date, the hardware is not considered strictly limited edition, and physical Nintendo store locations in New York and San Francisco are expected to carry units at launch alongside the matching anniversary Switch 2 Pro Controller.
