Playdate Season 3 Launches in October With 8 Games
Panic has announced Playdate Season 3, setting an October 8, 2026 release date for the handheld's smallest season yet featuring eight games for $39.

Panic has officially announced Playdate Season 3, confirming that it will feature the smallest selection of games in the handheld's history. Consisting of a total of eight titles, the new season will cost $39 and is scheduled to launch on October 8, 2026. Buyers will gain immediate access to two games on launch day, followed by two additional titles each week over a four-week period, completing the rollout by October 29, 2026.
Many of the upcoming Season 3 games were showcased during the platform's tenth update, with product pages already live for several titles. The announced lineup and genres include Bonkhop Chance’s Lucky Escape 2 (point-and-click adventure), Gloom Gate (action-RPG), Hellevator (action roguelike), Houm (point-and-click adventure), Soggy Froggy (action), Sound Mind (two-player hide-and-seek), and Word Trip 2: Cross Words (puzzle).
This upcoming batch follows previous seasons with notable structural differences. Season 1, which is included with the purchase of the handheld, featured 24 games delivered at a rate of two per week over 12 weeks. Season 2 comprised 12 titles released two per week over six weeks alongside a bonus thirteenth game called Blippo+, and also cost $39. Season 3 matches that $39 price point despite offering a smaller overall selection of games.
