Final Fantasy VII: Revelation Confirmed to Launch on April 8, 2027

Square Enix has officially confirmed that Final Fantasy VII: Revelation will launch on April 8, 2027. The upcoming action RPG will be available across multiple platforms, including the PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Serving as the final entry in the acclaimed Final Fantasy VII remake trilogy, the game aims to deliver the epic conclusion to a story that began with Final Fantasy VII Remake and continued in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth.

During a recent Sony State of Play broadcast, Square Enix showcased an extended gameplay deep dive highlighting major new features. Among them is the introduction of airship navigation via the Highwind, allowing players to freely explore a vast open world before landing at areas of interest. Traversal has also been enhanced with a new grappling gun for scaling rooftops, alongside the return of the chocobo companion Piko, who serves as both a mount and a growing combat ally. Additionally, Yuffie’s hometown of Wutai and the towering Ruby Weapon were shown during the broadcast.

Combat sees significant expansion through the new Function-Integrated Tactical Suitwear, or FITS system. Players can customize play styles using four specialized FITS—Warrior, Knight, Black Mage, and Summoner—which alter character appearances and abilities. Cid and Vincent Valentine officially join the party as playable characters, featuring seamless party-switching capabilities both in combat and while exploring the open world. Furthermore, the fan-favorite minigame Queen's Blood returns with a new storyline centered around Red XIII.

Pre-orders are currently live, offering the Mecha-Chocobo & Moogle Summon Materia as a bonus. Alongside the standard release, Square Enix announced a Premium Edition and a Premium Plus Edition, which include perks such as early access, a Story Expansion Pass granting access to two story-centered DLC packs, digital art books, and various in-game items and summon materias.
