Helldivers 2 Reaches Nearly 23 Million Lifetime Players

Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced that Helldivers 2 has reached 22.9 million players as of August 9th. The milestone was reported via a press release, highlighting the ongoing success of Arrowhead Game Studios' cooperative shooter. Having been available for PlayStation 5 and PC since February 2024, and later arriving on Xbox Series X/S in August 2025, the title continues to maintain a remarkably active player base across multiple platforms.

Prior to its recent addition to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, Helldivers 2 had never been included in any subscription service. Industry observers note that because copies sold closely mirror player counts in the absence of prior subscription offerings, the inclusion in PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium could drive these figures even higher. The game has also seen significant content rollouts recently, including the introduction of new mission types, enemies, and updates like the Devoid of Liberty update, which helped push concurrent player counts on Steam close to 147,000 peak players.

Alongside its player milestones, Helldivers 2 is expanding through high-profile collaborations. Arrowhead game director Michael Eriksson announced an upcoming partnership with Games Workshop to bring a Warhammer 40,000 Legendary Warbond to the game, featuring themed weapons, armor, and cosmetic patterns. Full reveals and releases for the crossover content are scheduled for August, keeping momentum high for what has widely been regarded as one of Sony's most successful live-service initiatives to date.
