Planescape: Torment Enhanced Edition, one of the greatest RPGs ever made, is still receiving official patches nearly three decades after the original game's release. Beamdog released a new beta update on September 15 for the Enhanced Edition, bringing it in line with the 2.7 patch version already deployed to other Enhanced Edition titles.

The update addresses several quality-of-life improvements. Steam Cloud saves now work through the Steam client directly rather than in-game options, and GOG cloud saves have been fixed. Most significantly, the patch adds UI scaling options to the settings menu. Players can keep the original 1024x768 resolution or enable scaling to better fit modern monitors.

The patch also includes mobile fixes and what Beamdog describes as "significantly easier" dialogue.tlk modding. This file contains the game's extensive text and dialogue, making the improvement particularly valuable for the modding community. No official release date for the full patch has been announced, though it appears the beta phase may be nearing completion.

The ongoing support reflects Beamdog's commitment to maintaining classic games that might otherwise become unplayable on current systems. While fan efforts typically sustain old games long-term, official patches ensure broader compatibility and accessibility for players returning to these beloved titles.
