PC Gamer's MMO Nostalgia Series Kicks Off with Readers' First Characters
PC Gamer launches a new feature exploring players' earliest MMO memories, starting with Harvey Randall's experience creating his first World of Warcraft character, Leetman, around 2004-2006.

PC Gamer has begun a new series documenting players' first MMO characters, starting with Harvey Randall's story of his earliest gaming experiences.
Randall's first character was Leetman, a Human Rogue in World of Warcraft, created after he convinced his parents to buy him a subscription. Though he had technically played RuneScape before, Randall considers Leetman his true first MMO character.
At just 10 years old, Randall admits he wasn't skilled with the class. He never leveled his poisons, failed to reach the level cap, and spent much of his time in Un'Goro Crater. Despite the rough start, he managed to earn enough gold for a mount, which felt significant at the time.
When The Burning Crusade expansion arrived, Randall moved on to a Troll Shaman named Earthborn, eventually deleting Leetman. The character may be gone, but the memories remain. Randall reflects that Leetman's apparent refusal to use poison skills might have been a matter of honor, though the truth died with the deleted character.
The series appears designed to capture players' formative MMO experiences and the games that shaped their early gaming lives.
