Action Roguelite Pathogenic Launches on PC and Mac Following Strong Early Reception
Developed by Aberrant Labs and published by Slug Disco, the twin-stick shooter Pathogenic challenges players to control a bodily invader across multiple anatomical zones.

Developer Aberrant Labs and publisher Slug Disco have released Pathogenic, an action roguelite twin-stick shooter available on Windows and macOS through Steam. Priced at $10, the indie game quickly surpassed 100,000 sales and earned an overwhelmingly positive review score on Steam following its July 16, 2026 launch.
In Pathogenic, players take on the role of a lone pathogen starting in the skin and progressing through the intestines, liver, stomach, lungs, and heart. Each zone features procedural generation and culminates in a boss fight, with an optional secret brain boss available for players seeking extra challenges. Gameplay involves twin-stick shooting through rooms filled with macrophages, T cells, and rival pathogens while dodging bullet-hell projectiles and hazards.
The title centers heavily on modular, customizable upgrade synergies. Players can attach various powerups to slots on their parasite, combining elements like fire or electric damage, new weapons, and active abilities. Additional mechanics include collecting DNA helixes from defeated enemies to level up, choosing between random passive effects, and unlocking permanent upgrades on a skill tree between runs. The game also incorporates soft-body physics, causing characters to squish and squash when colliding with walls or enemies.
While the game features demanding combat and occasional visual clutter, settings allow players to tone down visual effects. The title also supports play on the Steam Deck, though console players currently lack access.
