Palworld’s First Post-Launch Update Won’t Spend a Year in Development, Says Pocketpair

Pocketpair is currently brainstorming ideas for Palworld version 1.1, but has confirmed that the upcoming update will not be a massive, year-long undertaking.

Following the launch of Palworld version 1.0—which introduced new Pals, a brand-new region, late-game armor and weapons, new structures, and overhauled points of interest across the open world—developer Pocketpair has already turned its attention toward the game's future. The studio posted a message on social media featuring an image of a screen displaying a "Palworld v1.1 Brainstorming Session," signaling that planning for the first major post-launch update is officially underway.

John Buckley, head of publishing and communications at Pocketpair, took to social media to invite community suggestions for the upcoming update. The call for ideas quickly garnered thousands of replies from players. However, Buckley clarified the scope of what the development team is looking to achieve with version 1.1, noting that requests like adding a brand-new continent or introducing 20 more levels are massive undertakings that the team wants to avoid for this patch.

"We’re not planning to spend a year making a massive update for 1.1," Buckley stated, explaining that continually adding incremental level caps can lead to massive bloat points. While the studio remains open to ideas, the approach aligns with earlier statements indicating they do not plan to follow the long-term support model seen in titles like No Man's Sky. Pocketpair has acknowledged that support for Palworld will eventually conclude as the team looks toward future projects. Palworld is currently available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One.
