Palworld has received update 1.0.4, bringing a substantial refresh to gameplay systems and content. The update introduces two new sub-missions that expand the game's mission roster, with the first mission, 'Beyond Dimensions,' accepted from an NPC at Fisherman's Point in Mount Obsidian. The second mission, 'From the Far Side of the Moon,' becomes available after completing the first.

Beyond new missions, update 1.0.4 focuses on rebalancing core mechanics. Summoned Pals and Base Pals now prioritize skills expected to deal higher damage, while fishing difficulty has been adjusted across multiple biomes. The update refines fishing item rewards and introduces new control guides and recommended equipment displays for the fishing minigame. A new world setting allows players to control fish behavior during fishing sequences.

Base building receives quality-of-life improvements, including changes to construction cancellation and building dismantling. When canceling work at production facilities, returned materials now go directly to inventory. Building restrictions now prevent construction in designated areas around Field Boss Suzaku and specific mission locations in Sakurajima. Server administrators gain the ability to set per-player limits on buildings in the world.

The patch addresses numerous technical issues, including crashes related to NPC dialogue overlapping with riding, fishing spot disappearance animations, and long mission descriptions. Co-op progression issues have been resolved, preventing unintended mission advancement when clients enter progression areas. Performance improvements reduce memory usage on Xbox One and PS5 during co-op play, with reduced stuttering during passive skill activation.

Skill balance changes affect multiple Pals. Lapure's swimming speed has been adjusted, Lunaris Effigies' homing enhancement values modified, and changes have been made to the Work Suitability requirements for gathering Ancient Bark. Partner Skills receive corrections, including fixes to Killamari Primo's Lv. 2 and Lv. 3 effects and the Lucky passive defense bonus. Passive Skill 'Mercy Hit' now correctly applies to attacks by Pals while riding.

Additional refinements include terrain and water display adjustments in Sunreach and the World Tree area, expanded UI features such as name search in the Palpedia, and support for opening chat from the Radial Menu on PS5. The default PC FPS cap has been changed to 120, and version mismatch errors now display connection target versions.
