Blizzard revealed Doctrine, a vampire-inspired support hero, during BlizzCon 2026's opening ceremony. The new character pushes Overwatch further into fantasy territory, departing from the game's usual science-fiction roots.

Doctrine's real name is Tamuka Yeukai and he hails from Zimbabwe. He wields a scepter that heals and speeds up teammates while dealing major damage to enemies. Additional abilities include unleashing bat drones, infusing allies, and manipulating life force. Blizzard described him as the "ultimate vampire fantasy."

The hero joins the Talon faction and is a close friend of Doomfist, with his kit designed to complement Doomfist's playstyle. Doctrine's limited-time hero trial is live now and runs until September 14.

He is accompanied by the Escort map Watchpoint: Grimsvotn, which depicts the Icelandic prison seen in his debut cinematic. Blizzard also announced that Sombra and Roadhog are undergoing major changes.
