Order of the Sinking Star Launches on October 8 for PC, PS5, and Nintendo Switch 2

Developer Thekla has announced that Order of the Sinking Star, an epic puzzle title spearheaded by Braid creator Jonathan Blow, will officially launch on October 8. First revealed at The Game Awards 2025, the massive narrative-driven adventure has been ten years in the making. According to the development team, the game boasts over 1,000 unique, interconnected puzzles set across a fantasy world made up of four distinct biomes: Hearty Heroes of Hauling, The Promise, The Mirror Isles, and Skipping Stones to Lonely Homes.

Players control a princess who is transported to another world, exploring environments filled with bespoke characters and unique gameplay mechanics. Eventually, the characters and systems of one world will interact with another, resulting in intricate combinations of mechanics that address a deeper mystery surrounding a titular cult. Due to the immense scope of the project, Jonathan Blow enlisted assistance from several prominent puzzle game designers, including Alan Hazelden, Sean Barrett, Jonah Ostroff, Zach Polansky, Patrick Traynor, and Marc ten Bosch, alongside contributions from Twitch followers over the years.

Order of the Sinking Star will release for PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. Ahead of the launch, players can wishlist the title across storefronts or jump into a free demo currently available on PC, which features over 1,000—correction, over 100 puzzles and a look at five of the playable Hearty Heroes of Hauling with progress that carries over to the full game. Jonathan Blow also hosted a launch date celebration livestream on his Twitch channel to answer community questions about the upcoming adventure.
