Ontos Delivers Creepy Puzzles In New Gameplay Reveal
Frictional has revealed a new look at Ontos during Gamescom Opening Night Live, showcasing disturbing psychological horror, puzzles, and voice acting by Stellan Skarsgård.
Frictional, the developers behind Amnesia and Soma, showcased a fresh look at their upcoming psychological horror title, Ontos, during the Gamescom Opening Night Live presentation. Continuing in the stylistic footsteps of the studio's earlier projects, the new game features voice work led by actor Stellan Skarsgård.
In Ontos, players step into the shoes of an engineer exploring an abandoned hotel located on the moon. The gameplay centers heavily around puzzle-solving and moral narrative choices that directly shape the game's ultimate outcome. During the newly revealed gameplay sequence, viewers were introduced to a disturbing and uncomfortably graphic experiment involving a human mind uploaded onto a server constructed from live rats, accompanied by deeply troubling audio and visual elements.
Fans looking forward to the release can expect Ontos to launch across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms sometime in 2027.
